TV’s back

The between-season TV drought is ending, not that I miss watching TV regularly much. A few of the things coming on that I think friends are interested in:

“Weeds” returns tonight on Showtime, and this year it’s paired with “Nurse Jackie”, which looks interesting although isn’t getting great reviews

There’s no new season of “Top Chef” this summer; we’re getting “Top Chef Masters” (starting on Wednesday June 10th) instead, which is “Top Chef” with established chefs (some of whom have been judges on the regular show) and a different team.“True Blood” returns (very quickly, for an HBO show) on Sunday June 14th.

Fox is finally showing Ronald D. (“BSG”) Moore’s pilot, “Virtuality”, on Friday June 26th. After sitting in limbo for a very long time, it was brilliantly scheduled to run the evening of July 4th. Now it’s running in the standard Friday night death slot instead. Merely by the way Fox has treated it so far, most people have written off its chances of going to series already, but it should be interesting to watch as a stand-alone piece.

HBO’s new show starring Thomas (“Punisher”) Jane, called “Hung”, starts on Sunday June 28th. Apparently its premise is that the lead male character is incredibly hung. Hilarity ensues.

Not-quite-guilty pleasure “Eureka!” is coming back to the SciFi (sorry, SyFy) channel on Friday, July 10th (yes, no more Tuesday night “Eureka!”). And “Warehouse 13″ is SyFy’s (I really just want to not write their name at all, this seems like baby talk) new show which sounds like a stock weekly formula type show, warehouse full of artifacts, lots and lots of genre guest stars. I’m sure we’ll check it out, at least. “Warehouse 13″ starts on Tuesday July 7th, so I guess that’s what got “Eureka!”’s old spot.

Finally, July 12th sees Margaret Cho return in “Drop Dead Diva”, on Lifetime, only apparently she’s not playing the diva.
